Centre Presses Western States on Welfare Delivery and Coverage
The Social Justice Ministry reviewed welfare scheme implementation across four states and one Union territory in Diu.
What happened
The ministry held a day-long regional review meeting in Diu with senior officials from Rajasthan, Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. Discussions covered scholarships, SC welfare, legal safeguards, senior citizens, sanitation workers and drug-demand reduction. Officials identified action points to improve beneficiary identification, outreach, fund use, monitoring and timely delivery.
Why it matters
The review targets gaps that leave eligible beneficiaries outside welfare schemes, while pressing administrations for more transparent delivery, stronger coordination and measurable results.
