India’s CSR Summit Puts Measurable Outcomes Ahead of Spending Alone

India’s third national CSR conference urged companies to prioritise governance, coordination and measurable social outcomes over spending alone.

What happened

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs concluded its two-day National Conference and Exhibition on CSR in New Delhi. Discussions focused on stronger board-level governance, evidence-based planning, technology, regional allocation, women’s economic empowerment, skills and employment, and impact measurement. More than 600 senior representatives attended. Former cabinet secretary Ajit Seth said CSR success should be judged by changes in people’s lives, not expenditure alone.

Why it matters

The conference frames CSR as a strategic business responsibility, increasing emphasis on transparency, accountable implementation and demonstrable development results rather than formal compliance.
