RBI Opens Dollar Window for Three State Oil Companies

The RBI will supply dollars directly to three public-sector oil marketers from October 12 until further notice.

What happened

The Reserve Bank of India has opened a special window to meet the entire daily dollar requirements of Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and Bharat Petroleum Corporation. Through designated banks, the RBI will sell US dollars to these companies. The facility starts on October 12, 2026, and continues until further notice.

Why it matters

The three state-owned oil marketers receive a dedicated source of dollars for their daily requirements, reducing their need to obtain foreign currency through ordinary market channels.
