India, UK urged to double bilateral trade by 2030
India and the UK were urged to turn CETA into expanded trade, investment, partnerships and jobs by 2030.
What happened
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal called on India and UK businesses to double bilateral trade by 2030, using the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement as the platform. He said CETA gives most Indian exports zero-tariff access to the UK and opens new services opportunities. He urged companies to convert the agreement’s openings into commercial outcomes.
Why it matters
CETA lowers tariff barriers for most Indian exports and creates additional services opportunities, giving businesses a clearer route to expand bilateral trade and investment.
