Google Play Lets Users Build Private AI Apps Without Developer Accounts
Google Play now lets adults in select markets build and run private AI apps without developer accounts.
What happened
Google Play is rolling out a Google AI Studio feature that lets users aged 18 and over build and run custom Android apps privately on their own devices using a standard Google account. The rollout starts in select markets, including the U.S. Google is also adding Ask Play and Game Finder, which use AI and user preferences to personalise app and game recommendations.
Why it matters
The change lowers the barrier to creating and testing personal Android apps, while keeping them outside the public Play Store until users choose to share them more widely.
