Google makes Pixel watches repairable, expands refurbished phone options
Google is adding modular, repairable hardware and expanding support, trade-in, and certified refurbished options for Pixel users.
What happened
Google says Pixel Watch 4 and 5 use modular architecture and earned a 9 out of 10 repairability score from iFixit. The new Fitbit Edge is its first repairable fitness tracker, with a replaceable battery. Google also added Pixel 9 phones to its US certified refurbished lineup at discounts of up to 45%.
Why it matters
Easier repairs, trade-ins, and refurbished purchases are designed to keep devices in use longer and reduce electronic waste.
