DRI seizes 137kg crystal meth, arrests four in Tamil Nadu coastal bust
DRI seized 137kg of suspected crystal meth in coastal Tamil Nadu and arrested four people linked to a Sri Lanka-bound trafficking network.
What happened
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence seized 137kg of suspected high-purity methamphetamine from six bags in a coastal village in Nagapattinam district during an operation on October 16–17, 2026. The consignment, valued at more than ₹100 crore, was allegedly intended for transfer at sea to Sri Lanka. Four people were arrested and sent to judicial custody.
Why it matters
The seizure disrupts a coastal trafficking operation and removes a consignment valued above ₹100 crore from the illegal drug market, according to the DRI.
