DRI Seizes 591 Kg Cannabis Smuggled From Nepal in Uttar Pradesh
India’s DRI seized 591.3 kilograms of cannabis from a truck allegedly smuggling it from Nepal into Uttar Pradesh.
What happened
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence stopped a suspected truck between Gorakhpur and Kushinagar on October 17-18, 2026, after more than four hours of surveillance. Officers found 81 cannabis packets weighing 591.3 kilograms hidden in two specially built compartments—above the bonnet and behind the driver’s seat. The cannabis and truck were seized under the NDPS Act, 1985.
Why it matters
The seizure removes a 591.3-kilogram cross-border cannabis shipment and its transport vehicle, disrupting the trafficking supply chain identified by investigators.
