Google Tightens Financial Ad Checks Ahead of 2027 North America Rollout
Google will require financial advertisers in the U.S. and Canada to prove regulatory authorization before running certain ads.
What happened
Google is expanding its Financial Services Verification program to the U.S. and Canada in early 2027. Advertisers running certain financial ads must prove authorization from relevant regulators or recognised registries, adding a credential check to existing identity verification. Google is also working with banking associations in both countries to verify legitimate institutions before their ads run.
Why it matters
Financial firms will face an additional compliance requirement before reaching customers through Google ads, while impersonators and unauthorised advertisers will be blocked from those campaigns.
