Yemen Fighting Drives More Than 250,000 People From Homes
Renewed fighting in Yemen has displaced more than 250,000 people, the United Nations says.
What happened
More than 250,000 people have fled renewed fighting in Yemen, according to the United Nations. The organisation highlighted particular concern for people sheltering in Taiz city and the surrounding governorate, where access is described as “essentially blocked”. Families are also facing hunger and disease amid the continuing war.
Why it matters
The immediate consequence is a worsening humanitarian crisis: displaced families are struggling to access safety and essential support in areas where movement and assistance are severely restricted.
