Odisha Sets 1 GW Agrivoltaics Goal, Plans 25-Year Power Agreements

Odisha is finalising an agrivoltaics policy targeting 1 GW by 2030 with long-term power purchase agreements.

What happened

Odisha is finalising its dedicated Agrivoltaics Policy 2026, targeting 1 GW of capacity by 2030. The proposed framework would require at least 90% of project sites to remain cultivable, secure farmers’ consent and crop insurance, and allow owners to retain farming or lease land. The state also plans 25-year power purchase agreements through GRIDCO, grid connectivity and investment incentives.

Why it matters

The proposed framework gives developers planned long-term power-purchase visibility while protecting agricultural use, farmer consent and land ownership rights.
