PM Daksh Trains 187,305 People, Shifts Into PMKVY From 2024-25

India’s PM Daksh scheme trained 187,305 candidates and helped 96,162 secure employment through 2023-24.

What happened

PM Daksh, launched in 2020-21 for SC, OBC, EWS, DNT and sanitation-worker communities, trained 187,305 candidates between 2020-21 and 2023-24. Of these, 96,162 secured wage-based or self-employment. From 2024-25, the scheme is being merged into the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship’s PMKVY to avoid duplication, since both use roles listed on the Skill India Digital Hub.

Why it matters

The merger consolidates overlapping skill-training programmes, while training institutions remain accountable for placing at least 70% of participants or losing 30% of their training payment.
