Modi Links India’s Economic Rise to a New Global Order
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India’s growing capabilities can strengthen global supply chains and shape a more representative world order.
What happened
Addressing the NDTV World Summit, Modi called for reform of global institutions and a stronger voice for the Global South. He said India’s rising economic and technological capabilities support that role, citing 25% year-on-year growth in September goods and product exports, around 7 million jobs created under the Prime Minister’s employment scheme, and renewed domestic Penicillin G production.
Why it matters
The speech ties India’s policy focus on self-reliance, technology and jobs to a broader global role, with domestic supply chains presented as strategically important.
