Kazakhstan Scales AI Compute, Targets Local Models and Robotaxis
Kazakhstan is expanding AI infrastructure while developing local models, industrial applications and a potential robotaxi service.
What happened
Kazakhtelecom has deployed 400 NVIDIA H200 and 480 NVIDIA B300 GPUs, with more than 2,000 additional GPUs planned next year. Firebird is building an AI facility with 45,000 Grace Blackwell GPUs, targeting commercial launch in the third quarter of 2027. Local efforts also include Kazakh-language models, AI applications and a robotaxi feasibility study in Astana.
Why it matters
The buildout gives Kazakhstan more capacity to train and run AI systems for companies, institutions and industries including mining, agriculture, logistics and transport.
