NASA Tests RS-25 Engine for Full SLS Launch-Duration Burn
NASA tested RS-25 engine No. 10001 for 500 seconds at 111% power in Mississippi.
What happened
Teams at NASA’s Stennis Space Center tested RS-25 engine No. 10001 on October 21, 2026. The hot-fire test lasted 500 seconds, or almost eight-and-a-half minutes—the same firing duration used by RS-25 engines during SLS rocket launches. The engine operated at a 111% power level.
Why it matters
The test matches the engine’s SLS launch-duration burn and demonstrates operation at 111% power; the source provides no broader business or programme consequence.
