The SEC has set FY2027 examination priorities covering investor protection, cybersecurity, private funds, market infrastructure and emerging technologies.
What happened
The SEC’s Division of Examinations will focus its risk-based reviews on more than 34,000 registrants during fiscal 2027. Priorities include advisers’ fiduciary duties, complex products, private funds and credit, broker-dealer supervision and anti-money-laundering controls, cybersecurity, customer information, emerging technologies, tokenization and Treasury clearing reforms. The list guides heightened attention but is not exhaustive.
Why it matters
Firms across the securities industry will face closer examination of compliance, operational resilience, technology risks and investor protection, with priorities adjustable as market conditions change.
