India Puts Farmers at Centre of Global Agrivoltaics Conference

India’s 2026 agrivoltaics conference focused on farmer-led models, scientific evidence, financing and solutions for the Global South.

What happened

India concluded the three-day seventh Agrivoltaics World Conference, organised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Discussions focused on combining food production with solar generation, using climate-specific evidence, efficient water use, suitable crops, financing and farmer experience. The conference also recognised research and startups, while France formally took over hosting the eighth edition in 2027.

Why it matters

The forum links agrivoltaic investment to practical farm conditions, requiring projects to preserve agricultural output while diversifying farmer incomes and expanding clean-energy access.
