India’s Agencies Freeze 1,424 Bank Accounts in Operation Trident
A coordinated anti-drug operation across three northeastern states arrested 18 people and disrupted an international trafficking network.
What happened
The Narcotics Control Bureau led simultaneous raids at 38 locations across Assam, Mizoram and Manipur on 23 October 2026, working with state police and the Enforcement Directorate. Authorities arrested 18 people, froze 1,424 bank accounts, identified ₹100 crore in hawala transactions, attached ₹17.82 crore in property, and seized 500 detonators and ₹12 lakh in cash.
Why it matters
The operation targeted both the trafficking infrastructure and financial network behind cross-border narcotics movement, rather than focusing only on drug seizures.
