Guwahati Fair Gives 75 Artisans Direct Access To Buyers

Guwahati’s eight-day Shilp Samagam fair is connecting 75 artisans with customers and showcasing traditional Indian crafts and handlooms.

What happened

The Shilp Samagam Mela began on October 21 at Farm Gate, Khanapara, and runs through October 28. Seventy-five artisans, including 31 women, are displaying around 40 varieties of handicraft and handloom products. The fair enables direct sales and includes traditional music and dance performances from northeastern states.

Why it matters

Direct customer access can help participating artisans increase sales, build new buyers, and expand market reach. The fair also promotes India-Tulip, which supports wider retail and e-commerce access for eligible artisans.
