RBI opens Bhubaneswar data centre and cybersecurity training institute
The Prime Minister inaugurated RBI facilities designed to strengthen digital financial infrastructure and cybersecurity capabilities in India.
What happened
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Reserve Bank of India’s new Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute in Bhubaneswar. The Data Centre will house mission-critical systems, including RTGS and NEFT. The institute will develop expertise in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, supporting RBI’s focus on stronger digital infrastructure and indigenous technological capabilities.
Why it matters
The facilities directly support the resilience of India’s payment infrastructure and build specialised technology capabilities for the financial system.
