CCPA fines walkie-talkie sellers ₹58 lakh over missing licence disclosures

India’s consumer regulator fined 12 companies for walkie-talkie listings that omitted operating frequencies, licence requirements and approvals.

What happened

The Central Consumer Protection Authority fined Hoger Technologies and Innovation LLP ₹1 lakh for misleading walkie-talkie advertisements and incomplete product listings. The CCPA said listings must disclose operating frequency, licensing requirements and regulatory approvals, even without online payment or checkout. It has now fined 12 companies a combined ₹58 lakh after finding more than 16,970 non-compliant listings.

Why it matters

Walkie-talkie advertisers and marketplaces must provide legally relevant product information before purchase; missing disclosures can mislead consumers about lawful use and expose them to legal or financial harm.
