Google Funds World Bank Network Connecting One Million Farmers
Google.org is investing $2.5 million to expand an AI-enabled agricultural services network across emerging markets.
What happened
Google.org will provide $2.5 million to the World Bank Group’s AgriConnect initiative, supporting an AI-enabled Open Network for Agriculture. Following a pilot in India, the network will expand across Latin America, Southeast Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, targeting access to essential services for one million farmers by the end of 2027.
Why it matters
The network could reduce farmers’ reliance on disconnected apps by bringing IDs, credit, subsidies, produce markets and local-language advice onto one platform.
