Google shares AI health framework focused on accuracy, safety and usefulness
Google published a framework for evaluating whether AI tools used in health are accurate, safe and useful.
What happened
Google, working with health experts Dr. Elizabeth McGlynn and Dr. Dana Gelb Safran, published a whitepaper outlining an end-to-end evaluation framework for AI health use cases. It assesses models across accuracy, safety and usefulness, combining closed-question benchmarks, automated raters and expert human review, including assessments of common and high-risk scenarios.
Why it matters
The framework gives developers, researchers and clinicians a shared methodology for assessing AI health tools and promoting greater transparency around their reliability and safety.
