Nor’easter puts Northeast shorelines at risk of flooding this weekend
A powerful nor’easter is expected to bring damaging winds, heavy rain and coastal flooding across the Northeast this weekend.
What happened
NOAA’s National Weather Service is monitoring a rapidly deepening East Coast storm expected to affect the Northeast on Saturday and Sunday. The system will likely bring very gusty winds, heavy rain and coastal flooding along the I-95 corridor from the Mid-Atlantic through New England. New Jersey, New York City and Long Island are expected to see the strongest wind gusts and most widespread flooding, particularly near waterfronts and shorelines. The worst flooding is forecast during daytime high-tide cycles on both days, with water also moving inland along tidal rivers and bays.
