Centre convenes states to shape Rabi 2026 farm strategy
A two-day national conference will coordinate Centre-state preparations and priorities for the 2026 Rabi season.
What happened
The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ministry will hold the National Agriculture Conference for Rabi Abhiyan 2026 on September 28–29 in New Delhi. Agriculture ministers from states, senior Central and state officials, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and other stakeholders will attend. Discussions will cover self-sufficiency in pulses, oilseeds and edible oils; seed availability; horticulture; climate-resilient and natural farming; soil health; mechanisation; FPO finance and infrastructure; digital agriculture; crop insurance; fertiliser availability; farmer registries; digital crop surveys and marketing reforms. The conference will use regional meeting findings to develop coordinated, action-oriented priorities for the Rabi season.
Why it matters
The conference is intended to align Central and state implementation around production, productivity, sustainability and farmer-income priorities, including fertilisers, finance, digital systems, insurance and market reforms.
