FTC Aligns Practice Rules With Act, Reflects New Enforcement Division
The FTC amended its practice rules to align with law, reflect organizational changes, and correct prior errors.
What happened
The Federal Trade Commission amended its Rules of Practice to better align them with the FTC Act and reflect changes to the agency’s structure, including the creation of the American Competition Enforcement Division. The amendments also fix minor errors and omissions in the previous version of the rules. The changes will be published through Federal Register notices covering 16 CFR Parts 0-4 and Parts 4 and 5. The Commission approved the proposed changes in a 2-0 vote.
Why it matters
The updated rules bring the FTC’s procedural framework into line with its governing law and current organisation. For companies dealing with the agency, the notices provide the operative rules and reflect its revised enforcement structure.
