NVIDIA Isaac ROS 5.0 adds agentic tools for open-source robotics development
NVIDIA released Isaac ROS 5.0 with AI-agent workflows, new platform support and GPU-accelerated tools for robotics developers.
What happened
NVIDIA released Isaac ROS 5.0 at the ROSCon conference in Toronto, adding agentic workflows and platform support for building, customizing and deploying robotics applications. The GPU-accelerated, open-source package supports ROS Lyrical and Ubuntu 24.04, and includes a standard data-handling interface contributed to ROS Lyrical for efficient operation across CPUs and GPUs. New setup, manipulation and agent-ready documentation skills help developers and AI agents complete robotics tasks. FoundationPose’s agent-ready inference library can track object position and orientation up to 5.5 times faster. The release supports NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano through Jetson Thor and is available now.
Why it matters
The release gives the nearly 1.3 million ROS users a free, open-source path to accelerated robotics development, from AI-assisted application building through deployment on edge devices.
