Google opens free HD AI video creation to account holders
Google Vids now offers free 1080p AI video creation and editing controls to anyone with a Google or Workspace account.
What happened
Google has expanded Google Vids so anyone with a Google or Google Workspace account can generate videos at no cost using its Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash model. Available on desktop through vids.new, the tool can create new 1080p scenes, upscale existing AI clips, extend scenes while preserving visual consistency, and set precise clip durations. Ready-made templates support product promotions, business content, community events, and social posts. Every AI-generated clip contains an imperceptible SynthID digital watermark so viewers can verify that it was made with AI. Google says text-to-speech in more than 100 languages is coming soon.
Why it matters
The free access lowers the cost and skill barrier for businesses, creators, and community groups producing promotional or informational video. The embedded watermark makes AI generation identifiable to viewers.
