NVIDIA AI Speeds Grid, Nuclear and Fusion Projects
Five companies are using NVIDIA-powered AI to accelerate clean-energy development, grid integration and power infrastructure.
What happened
NVIDIA highlighted five companies using its platforms across clean energy. ThinkLabs AI helped Southern California Edison cut grid-interconnection evaluations from 30–45 days to two minutes through automated simulations. Atomic Canyon’s Neutron and NIVA platforms organise nuclear procedures, regulatory guidance, licensing records and other plant data. Redwood Materials is building off-grid power systems for AI factories using recycled electric-vehicle batteries, power electronics and NVIDIA Blackwell-based controls. TerraPower is using NVIDIA Omniverse digital twins to support faster Natrium reactor development. Commonwealth Fusion Systems uses Omniverse and OpenUSD to compress years of fusion experimentation into weeks for its SPARC machine.
Why it matters
The examples show AI reducing specific clean-energy bottlenecks: interconnection analysis, nuclear knowledge management, power deployment and fusion development. Redwood says its systems can bring new capacity online in months rather than years.
