Google adds Hispanic Heritage Month features across its consumer products
Google is highlighting Latino culture through music, entertainment, books, creators, and business tools across its products.
What happened
Google is marking Hispanic Heritage Month with new and ongoing initiatives across its consumer products. Its homepage Doodle celebrates Latin pop, alongside a YouTube Music playlist of Latin pop hits. Google TV will publish weekly collections covering music, telenovelas, Spanish-language live news, and films featuring Latin talent. Google Play Books will curate works by authors Reyna Grande and Samantha Saldivar. YouTube’s social channels will feature Latino creators and artists. Existing efforts include Latino-focused projects on Chrome and Google Arts & Culture, plus a Latino-owned business attribute on Search and Maps.
Why it matters
The initiatives give users curated access to Latino music, entertainment, books, and creators. Google’s Search and Maps attribute also helps identify Latino-owned businesses, though the source provides no commercial performance data.
