Meta Unveils 100-Gram VR Glasses Priced at $1,299.99
Meta’s new VR glasses combine entertainment, work and gaming features, with sales planned for spring 2027 at $1,299.99.
What happened
Meta introduced Meta VR Glasses, a roughly 100-gram device it describes as its most advanced VR product. The glasses use micro-OLED panels with a 5K Infinite Display, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, and connect by optical tether to a separate puck containing computing, battery and storage. The system offers private multi-screen workspaces, hand-gesture controls, Meta AI, gaming and full-colour passthrough. Meta says the glasses are five times lighter than Meta Quest 3, provide up to three hours of continuous high-resolution media playback, and will launch with more than 75 gesture-controlled games. Sales begin in spring 2027 for $1,299.99.
Why it matters
The product places a high-priced computing, entertainment and gaming device in a glasses form factor rather than a traditional headset. Its launch also brings IMAX Enhanced certification and planned partnerships across streaming, sports and gaming content.
