Meta Blocks 3.6 Million Singapore Scam Shell Pages Before Activation
Meta and Singapore police shared intelligence that disrupted millions of scam-linked accounts, pages and networks in 2026.
What happened
Over the past two years, Meta and the Singapore Police Force have shared information to identify and disrupt scam networks on Facebook and Instagram. From January to June 2026, Meta acted against more than 113,000 entities and pages linked to fraud, primarily investment scams, after SPF signals led it to action more than five times the number of assets initially flagged. A June operation targeting e-commerce scams resulted in action against more than 33,600 entities. In July, Meta removed over 3.6 million dormant “shell pages” before scammers could activate them. Meta said SPF information also supported seven arrests in 2025 tied to suspected unlawful remote betting.
Why it matters
The partnership moves enforcement beyond removing reported posts to dismantling connected scam infrastructure before campaigns reach victims. It also shows how police intelligence can expand platforms’ ability to identify and disable networks at scale.
