Google and ITU offer 100,000 AI scholarships across 80 countries
Google and ITU are providing 100,000 practical AI training scholarships across more than 80 countries through local partners.
What happened
Google is partnering with the International Telecommunication Union to provide 100,000 scholarships for hands-on AI and digital-skills training across more than 80 countries. The scholarships are part of the AI Skills Coalition under ITU’s AI for Good programme and support the ITU-UNICEF Giga initiative. More than 200 courses are available for students, educators, job seekers, entrepreneurs, small-business owners and civil servants. Local governments and national ministries can tailor programmes to workforce priorities. The courses require no technology background and offer recognised certificates. The initiative will track participation, completion, certificates earned and uptake among priority groups.
Why it matters
The programme expands access to practical AI skills and recognised credentials as 1.2 billion people still need basic digital-skills training globally. It directly supports learners seeking stronger capabilities for education, employment and public service.
