AI Gives Cities Free Tools to Analyse Resident Feedback
A new partner programme lets local governments use AI to analyse large-scale public feedback at no operational cost.
What happened
Google.org and Jigsaw are expanding Jigsaw’s Sensemaking AI through a new Partner Program for local governments worldwide. The open-source tools help officials run large civic conversations, analyse responses from thousands of residents, and identify community needs relevant to public services and policy. Cities can use the programme at no operational cost. In Bowling Green, Kentucky, feedback from 8,000 residents informed a 25-year growth plan. Similar initiatives are underway in Chattanooga, Tennessee; Riverside, California; and Kitchener, Ontario. Bloomberg Philanthropies and the David & Lucile Packard Foundation are also supporting the expansion.
Why it matters
Local governments can gather and process broader public input without operational costs, giving officials structured community feedback for planning services and long-term growth. The Bowling Green example shows the tools already informing a major municipal plan.
