Google Awards $30 Million to 15 Groups Building Open-Source Public-Service AI
Google.org selected 15 organizations to develop open-source AI tools for healthcare, infrastructure, emergency response, and government services.
What happened
Google.org is distributing $30 million among 15 academic institutions, social enterprises, and nonprofits selected from more than 2,600 proposals. Through its AI for Government Innovation Accelerator, recipients will receive hands-on support from Google engineers and product experts to build human-centred, open-source tools for public services worldwide, including emergency coordination, healthcare access, tax filing, transit, and infrastructure management.
