Apple and AAP Give Families Six-Step Digital Habits Plan
Apple and the American Academy of Pediatrics released a guide linking family media advice with Apple’s parental controls.
What happened
The guide helps families discuss screen time, create Child Accounts, set website and app safeguards, schedule device use, manage communications, and revisit rules as children grow. It includes AAP guidance by age group, from infants to teens. The related Screen Time features are available now in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, with all Family Sharing devices requiring updates.
Why it matters
Parents get a structured way to manage children’s device use, safety, and communications, but the updated controls require every device in a Family Sharing group to run supported software.
