WTO, ADB and World Bank bring services trade initiative to Asia-Pacific
Three global institutions introduced the Trade in Services for Development initiative to Asia-Pacific stakeholders at a Manila conference.
What happened
The WTO, Asian Development Bank and World Bank Group jointly held a regional conference in Manila on 28-29 September. The event brought the Trade in Services for Development initiative to Asia-Pacific for the first time. Trade officials and other stakeholders discussed services trade, analytical tools, best practices and policy approaches supporting the sector.
Why it matters
The conference gives regional policymakers a forum to exchange approaches and tools for supporting services trade, but no specific policy or funding decision was announced.
