OpenAI Makes GPT-6 Astra Up To Eight Times Faster on NVIDIA GPUs
OpenAI has launched GPT-6 Astra Ultrafast, offering up to eight times faster token generation on NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs.
What happened
GPT-6 Astra Ultrafast is now available through the OpenAI API and to eligible ChatGPT Work and Codex users. Running on NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs, it generates tokens up to eight times faster than Astra Standard. OpenAI used its own models to optimise inference software and create high-performance kernels for NVIDIA hardware.
Why it matters
Faster generation can shorten coding agents’ edit-test-debug cycles, reduce delays between tool calls, and make interactive AI applications more responsive.
