PMEGP Subsidies Help 8.12 Lakh Entrepreneurs Create 73 Lakh Jobs
The PMEGP scheme has supported 8.12 lakh micro entrepreneurs with ₹24,398.61 crore in subsidies since 2014-15.
What happened
The MSME Ministry scheme, implemented by KVIC, supports new non-farm micro-enterprises through margin-money subsidies linked to bank-approved loans. Since 2014-15, it has assisted about 8.12 lakh entrepreneurs and helped create roughly 73.08 lakh employment opportunities, mainly in rural and semi-urban areas.
Why it matters
The programme reduces the financing barrier for first-generation entrepreneurs and supports self-employment, including businesses that have grown into larger employers and exporters.
