Instagram Opens School Features to Verified US Students and Parents
Instagram is expanding its School Partnership Program with communication and safety features for verified schools, students, and parents in the US.
What happened
Instagram is adding Channels, School Stories, Notes, Clubs and Teams, and school directories for participating schools and verified students. Nearly 17,000 schools have already joined the program. High school students must pass third-party verification through UNiDAYS, while administrators can monitor or remove school-related posts and receive prioritised reviews of safety reports.
Why it matters
The changes give schools a central way to share updates with students and parents while adding verification and administrator controls intended to support safer teen participation.
