Norway’s Jammertest Pressures Navigation Technology Against Arctic Threats
Norwegian authorities use Jammertest to expose navigation systems to realistic jamming and spoofing attacks.
What happened
Each September, Norway’s authorities run Jammertest for one week around Andøya, an Arctic island. From Bleik, participants face hundreds of jamming and spoofing attacks designed to test their technologies, identify weaknesses and strengthen positioning, navigation and timing solutions.
Why it matters
The exercise gives technology developers a controlled setting to find vulnerabilities in navigation systems before those weaknesses affect real-world positioning, navigation and timing services.
