Centre, states set highway agenda at October 2026 infrastructure summit
India’s highways ministry will convene central and state officials to address project delivery, safety, quality and coordination challenges.
What happened
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will hold Chintan Shivir 2026 on October 5-6 in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat’s Narmada district. Senior central, state and implementing-agency representatives will discuss highway project delivery, land acquisition, concession agreements, safer design, quality assurance and monitoring. The two-day meeting is intended to produce actionable solutions and strengthen Centre-state coordination.
Why it matters
The discussions target implementation bottlenecks that affect highway delivery, including land, contracts, safety and quality. No specific policy decision or project outcome has yet been announced.
