AI Startups Target Breast Cancer Screening And Treatment Delays
AI startups are developing tools to speed breast scans, support radiologists and inform cancer treatment decisions.
What happened
Three healthcare startups are applying AI across breast cancer care. iSono Health’s FDA-cleared wearable ultrasound captures a 3D breast scan in about two minutes per breast, compared with up to 45 minutes for handheld ultrasound. Whiterabbit.ai develops mammography screening and risk-assessment tools, while Ataraxis AI uses pathology slides and clinical data to predict treatment response and recurrence risk.
Why it matters
The tools address documented capacity and timing constraints: radiologists face rising workloads, while some treatment-related tests can take two to four weeks. Faster imaging and analysis could reduce delays and workload.
