Google Gemini Gives Non-Writing Special-Needs Students a Voice

An Indonesian special-needs teacher uses Gemini to create visual guides and voice prompts for students with diverse disabilities.

What happened

At SLB Negeri 2 Gunungkidul in Yogyakarta, a special-needs teacher uses Gemini on classroom Chromebooks to create simple visual guides for students who cannot read. Students who cannot write can also use voice prompts to generate images and express ideas. The teacher and colleagues are developing an AI-powered app for special-education planning and programming.

Why it matters

Gemini gives students who cannot write a way to communicate ideas, while visual support helps them understand instructions more independently.
