What happened
Telecom operators are adopting open models not only to reduce costs, but also to customize, govern and deploy AI across networks and customer services. NVIDIA’s State of AI in Telecommunications report found 89% of respondents said open-source models and software are important to their company’s AI strategy. Operators can fine-tune models with their own operational data and run them across cloud, private and edge infrastructure.
Why it matters
Open models give operators more control over sensitive data, model behaviour and deployment, while enabling AI tailored to telecom operations, local languages and regulatory requirements.
