Google Accounts add passkeys for faster, more secure sign-ins
Google is enabling account users to sign in with passkeys using biometrics or device PINs instead of passwords.
What happened
Google says passkeys let users access apps and websites by unlocking their device with a fingerprint, face scan, or device PIN. The biometric data remains on the device and is not shared with Google. Passkeys are designed to resist common online attacks such as phishing. Users can create one at g.co/passkeys.
Why it matters
Passkeys make sign-ins easier while reducing exposure to phishing and removing the need to enter a password for supported access.
